Employees at the Hood Group went down under to enjoy Australia Day and raise some money for the Australia Flood Relief Appeal last week. This was the first of many staff incentive days planned for the year as a way of injecting some fun into the Southend on Sea based office while raising money for worthwhile causes.

The insurance specialist’s Australia Day kicked off with a host of Directors and Senior Managers showing off their favorite cork hats and greeting staff with the usual “G’Day” Aussie welcome. Employees were then given a range of activities throughout the day and enjoyed some authentic Australian snacks and drinks to get them in the mood and prompt them to make donations.

Simon Hood, Chief Executive of the Hood Group, said: “We’ve always taken Staff Wellbeing seriously and want our employees to enjoy coming to work each day. The company already has a wellbeing room and offers a range of benefits for staff to keep them happy and healthy. Celebrating National Days is just another way of ensuring that the atmosphere in the office continues to be fun and friendly. Plus with some great activities on offer and prizes to be won, it’s another way of showing staff that we care and appreciate all the hard work they do on a day to day basis.”

Hood continued: “Although Australia Day was about having fun, it was also a way of raising money for a very worthwhile cause. The huge amount of rainfall that has hit Queensland in recent weeks has seen an area the size of Germany and France combined flooded and sadly, many people have lost their lives trying to escape the flood waters or protect their property. After hearing all the devastating updates over the past few weeks, we were all keen to find a way of doing our bit to help. Unfortunately we weren’t all able to hop on a plane, but we truly hope that our financial donation to the Australia Flood Relief Appeal helps towards assisting those who have suffered a loss as a result of this disaster.”
