The Hood Group has a genuine focus for Staff Wellbeing, the Environment, the Local Community and have developed a strong Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy over the last two years linked to these areas. In this period our staff have raised nearly £15k for a local charity which provides advocacy services for the elderly and those suffering from early onset dementia and have volunteered to help them provide this service.
The Hood Group has taken steps to reduce its carbon footprint by 20% and in 2010 planted 212 trees in the Southend area via Carbonfootprint.com, to offset its entire carbon footprint. By promoting the use of local suppliers across all areas of its business The Hood Group not only helps to continually reduce its carbon footprint by requiring less transportation of goods, it helps to support its local community.
In November 2010, The Hood Group won the Green Travel Award at the Southend District Business Awards for its work in encouraging staff to use Public Transport on daily commutes, reducing business travel with the use of video and teleconferencing, offsetting all flight carbon emissions to the Company Spanish Apartment and offering secure Cycle Storage to those cycling to the office.
The Hood Group also understands the importance of a healthy work/ life balance for it‟s staff and not only does this link with its environmental policy, such as the Cycle to Work Scheme, but it also stands alone in the delivery of Quarterly Well-Being Weeks, which promote local businesses and service providers.
